HEIghten® Test Administration

The HEIghten® Outcomes Assessment Suite is administered online in one of the following ways:

  • proctored on campus
  • proctored off campus
  • nonproctored

Secure off-campus remote proctoring services are offered through our partner, ProctorU.

The HEIghten Outcomes Assessment Suite offers greater flexibility to meet your testing needs by allowing you to add an additional 50 locally-authored questions and select when and where you administer the assessment.

Flexible payment options are also offered. Institutions may pay for all inventory, or can pass the cost of the test, the remote proctoring session or both to the student.

Administering Nonproctored Assessments

The nonproctored HEIghten assessments allow institutions more flexibility during test administration. Using a nonproctored test may reduce or eliminate the need to spend class time on assessment, or it can simplify the proctoring process when testing a large group of students. However, users of this option should be aware that administering learning outcomes assessments in a nonproctored environment may impact student effort on the assessment.

The HEIghten Guide to Score Interpretation, which is available in the Help folder within the HEIghten Administrator Portal (Program Workshop), includes practical guidelines for addressing student effort on your assessments. Please consult these guidelines prior to conducting a nonproctored administration. Also, contact an ETS Advisor for insight on how other institutions are using nonproctored versions of ETS learning outcomes assessments.

System Requirements

The HEIghten assessments utilize a secure browser that prevents test takers from accessing anything other than the test content during an administration. System requirements for the HEIghten assessments can be found on our Site Readiness page.

If you experience any disruption or issues during your testing session, contact Technical Support at 1-800-514-8491, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET. If calling outside of business hours, select option 1 for after-hours assistance.
